Linen Table Runner with Vintage Hmong Tribal Vietnamese Cloth
This long linen modern textile is hand spun & hand woven. It incorporates 3 traditionally hand dyed and hand appliquéed indigo squares. Each of these cotton squares was sewn onto the back of a woman’s indigo hemp jacket. They are beautiful examples of traditional Vietnamese Hmong textile manufacture: The cloth itself is handspun, handwoven cotton. The background is dyed using a traditional batik indigo technique. The relief designs are very fine appliqués: very long thin red lines and small squares. This is a fine example of an artistic style which is disappearing.Â
The full table runner measures 85 x 11 1/2″ (216 x 29 cm)
